Lights, Camera…Action!

Thanks to everyone who came out to see The Package rock at Jammin Java and showed support for the release party for K-Beta’s “89 to 09″ mix CD (the reason for the celebration).

The set list was as follows:

Look Out Below (off the New Golden Era album)
Dimensions acapella verse
The Drug (off the New Golden Era album)
Final Warning (feat. Enoch 7th Prophet)*
Lights, Camera, Action (off of Noyeek the Grizzly Bear’s forthcoming solo album, Eartertainment)
Here I Am (off of Dimensions‘ upcoming solo album, Slanguage: A Brain Celebration)

* Final Warning will appear on The Package’s upcoming remix album, which will be available for free download this summer. More details to come.

We spotted a number of the DMV’s finest talents in the building: K-Beta, Flex Matthews, Ra the MC, Pro’Verb, Lyriciss, R.E.U.B., Krayola and many many more. We also had the privilege of seeing Dame Pix rock for the first time; he got busy. We missed a lot of the performances due to our tardy arrival, apologies to everyone whose performance we were unable to witness.

Big up to Betaraz and fam for putting together the whole event. Beautiful work, y’all!

On a sad note, our show at Expo this Saturday appears to be cancelled. We are having some communication difficulties getting that cancellation confirmed, but that appears to be the case.

We look forward to seeing you all when The Package rocks at the release party for our comrade Enoch 7th Prophet’s “Data Frequency” CD. $5 at the door, June 6th @ Axum (1934 9th St NW) (cost of entry gets you a copy of the CD as well). See you there!

ps: Big up to everyone I saw twittering about the show *after* I got home. I see you out there, Emperess! LOL. Please follow The Package at www.twitter.com/thepackagedc

pps: You can download a link to The Package’s recent “Ill Street Grooves” 89.3 FM WPFW radio appearance alongside Krayola (and a massive freestyle cipher with The Package, Krayola, Flex Matthews, myself and a very ill lyricist whose name I can pronounce but can’t spell (Va-Soo?), at http://www.divshare.com/download/7443220-26d

The Package Invades Art-o-Matic

Art-o-Matic is an annual event collecting the best visual, cinematic, and theatrical art in the city within one multi-level structure (usually an entire office building) converted into a temporary museum for seven days a week for a few months, all FREE for the public to enjoy!

This year, on June 27th, there will be a celebration of DMV hip-hop for almost the entire day. Hosted by Flex Matthews, don’t miss this event where performers such as The Package, X.O., Pro’verb, Lyriciss Flow and about sixteen other lyricists will rock the stage from 4pm to 1am (including our longtime comrade Peace Justice Universal who was instrumental in the formation of this very site, an attempt at listing all the performers is below). It’s a DMV hip-hop marathon! We hope to see some friendly faces out there ready to rock out with The Package and the rest of our DMV brethren and sistren! See you there!

ps: A sorrowful word for our brethren in the MA/CT area, our 5/23 Springfield, Massachusetts performance date is cancelled. MA’s lost, however, is New Jersey’s gain, as we are scheduled instead to perform at the Jackson NJ stop on the No Profanity Tour 2009, with the same heavyweight line-up (Kurtis Blow, Dana Dane, Roxanne Shante, etc). This works out better for everyone anyway because Grizz couldn’t make the MA date due to work responsibilities, so now we get to expose the NP tour audience to the full Package experience! Further, this allows the entire Package fam to rock at Expo (1934 9th St NW) that same date (May 23rd), instead of Grizz holding it down for dolo/on his own.

In no particular order, the performers at the FREE event on June 27th @ 55 M St SE are: The Package, X.O., Ra the MC, Pro’Verb, Lyriciss Flow, Brother Maniac, Peace Justice Universal, Rosetta Stoned, Pro and Reg, Benji, Nick the 1da, Tomorrow’s Yesterday, Sammy Bravo, Substantial, Enoch the 7th Prophet, K-Beta, Nando, Lady A, Jade Fox, Mic the Finite, Von, Prhyme, Buddha Bless, Godisilla, Enjay, Tamu, The Liberators
