Hello Brooklyn…The Package Rock Bucktown USA….

Brooklynites and a nice-sized contigent of DMV fans who made the up north trip showed love to The Package at this event in Brooklyn. This was The Package’s second show in New York and we received a warm welcome and had a great time!

Shout out to the other performers of the night, LeJae (NYC) and Goon Squad (DMV), who performed in that order, with The Package closing out the night. Both acts had very supportive fans who stayed most of the night (a nice departure from the unfortunate case when fans leave after their favorite act finishes).

No Sleep Til Brooklyn…

Of course, the newest shit from Mos is here

The Package will be rocking Brooklyn this Saturday (more info here), so it’s only right that we show love to one of Brooklyn’s brightest lights, the mighty Mos Def…enjoy…and if you’re within 100 miles of Brooklyn on Saturday, come through because the PKG militia is going to DESTROY that stage…

A Tale of Two Murders: The Package Slaughters Almaz

Watch Part 1 and Part 2 of The Package decimating the stage at Almaz above. The crowd was hype and Enoch got them even hyper with his “1, 2, 3 Theory drop that shit!” chant in Part 2…

The song order is as follows:

What You Sipping On?

Your Time Is Up

Cold World

Final Warning (feat. Enoch 7th Prophet)

__

“Final Warning”, of course, is still available for free download as part of the 20 track “Double R: Remixes and Rarities” project at http://tinyurl.com/pkgrmx2

The first three songs will be included on the forthcoming second album from The Package, “The It Factor”

The Invasion Continues! The Package Kills Club Reality

As you can see above, yesterday marked yet another successful strike in The Package’s campaign to take over the DMV, from Richmond to Baltimore! I just had a poll on Twitter about whether Baltimore was a part of the DMV…the results were mixed….what do you think? After you check out all the love Baltimore gives The Package in the video above, maybe your opinion will be swayed!

The Package Invades Maryland…The First Strike…

The Package made the first strike in their two stop military campaign in Maryland on Memorial Day. Their second strike is at Club Reality in Baltimore on June 16. The above video is just a snippet of the fun, as they rock “Your Time Is Up” off the forthcoming second Package album and “Final Warning” off of the “Double R: Remixes and Rarities” project, still available for free download at http://www.thepackage.bandcamp.com

All work-safe visuals, so enjoy this one in your cubicle with the headphones plugged in while your supervisor isn’t paying attention. LMAO!

(special shout to Peter Parker for the hilarious “100 of these people are me” retort to Dimes’ joke about the…ahem…modest turnout; add him as a friend on Twitter (click his name), his tweets are just as funny as his audience participation…LOL…tell him The Package sent ya….)

(extra special shoutout to DJ P-Funk, the promoter who brought The Package out to their first big show in Maryland, opening for Camp Lo back in the day…we randomly ran into P Funk at a gas station in Anne Arundel County on our way back to DC and he said he was down to get us some more Baltimore area shows…thank him for showing love to us when you see him…)

Dilla Lives Forever! Theory reworks an overlooked Dilla sample

<a href="http://thepackage.bandcamp.com/track/this-is-me-theory-loves-dilla-remix">This Is Me (Theory loves Dilla remix) by The Package</a>

And the PKG-mix onslaught continues!

Theory has masterfully reworked the original sample Dilla used to craft Busta Rhymes’ “Show Me What You Got” from his “Anarchy” album (an underrated gem in the Dilla catalog) to produce a remix for The Package’s “This is Me”, off of their debut album, “New Golden Era”. Check out the remix from the link above then take a listen to the original versions via the links below to see the magic that happens when the elements of both were combined by Theory!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHROoYCyBpE (Busta Rhymes, “Show Me What You Got”)

“This Is Me (Theory loves Dilla remix)” will be released as part of the “All The Way To Heaven” EP, comprised of songs where Theory revisits samples from overlooked gems in the Dilla catalog and puts them in a new context via remixed songs by his group, The Package. A love letter to Dilla in heaven from us mere mortals still striving to keep the tradition alive in his absence…

Enjoy!

Peace to the Peaceful,

Spirit Equality

Sean Price, “Angel Dust” (PKG-mix feat. Spirit and Noyeek)

A PKG-mix! Me and Noyeek hopped on this unfinished Sean Price song to turn it into a full length lyrical slaughter-fest. Enjoy! :-)

Noyeek’s Solo Debut Re-Released

<a href="http://thepackage.bandcamp.com/album/face-crunch">Breath of Fresh Air by Noyeek the Grizzly Bear</a>

Noyeek’s solo debut “Face Crunch” contains a lot of classic collaborations between the members of The Package and their former group Infinite Loop before The Package came to be. It’s a must have
for any Package fan to complete your collection! :-)

The World Needs One More Rapper Saying He’s The Best

<a href="http://spiritequality.bandcamp.com/track/best-alive-multiplicity-demo">Best Alive (Multiplicity) (Demo) by Spirit Equality</a>

The world was running out of egocentric rap songs, so I decided to help feed the hungry braggadocio fans. With catchy lines like “I fry cowards by the billable hour”, rest assured, the sucka MCs will stay in their place from now on. Ha.

In seriousness, our comrade-in-arms DJ Eurok put up the beat to this song on his Twitter page and asked people to write to it. So, I did. Boom.

Recorded in The House of Theory.

Peace to the peaceful,

Spirit

DMV Unity: The Package Jams With Mambo Sauce

In the video above, The Package jams with Mambo Sauce, one of the leading go-go bands in the city. The two groups have never rocked together and it’s a great meeting between two powerful representatives of the city’s two main urban genres: go-go and hip-hop. The songs rocked are “Final Warning” (off of “Double R: Remixes and Rarities“) and “Lights” (off of Noyeek’s forthcoming second solo album, “Eartertainment”, coming later this year).

It’s beautiful how the band quickly adapts to a song they’ve never rehearsed, with Twink adding some cool drum hits to punctuate the chorus of “Final Warning”.

Attentive listeners will note that The Package is somewhat hilariously introduced by the name of their Twitter account, ThePackageDC.

Awesome to hear someone behind me say “That was one of the dopest…” behind me as the set ends. Ha-ha! Big up to whoever that was, glad you enjoyed the show!

This all went down at the Up and Up Showcase, which hits Liv (2001 11th St NW, 11th and U) every Tuesday night, show starting at 8:30 (happy hour 6-8), put on by the highly underrated superb hip-hop trio Gods’illa. Support those brothers, it’s a great event (they also just put out a very high quality debut album you should peep). Big up to the featured act of the night, NYC band Shinobi Ninja, and the other performers that rocked throughout the night, including Maimouna Youssef (nominated for a Grammy for her vocal work on The Roots’ “Don’t Feel Right”), Komplex a/k/a Kowboy Kom (of Fly Gypsy) and Tamika Jones.
